Heading north on the Glenn Highway Scenic Byway, well pass through farmland that was colonized during the New Deal, which now grows record breaking produce like the 1,469-pound pumpkin!Well visit the Musk Ox Farm, known as one of the most unique animal husbandry projects in the world, for up close views of Musk Ox! Walk the trails aside these fascinating Ice Age creatures as you learn about their adaptations and place in the future of Alaskan agriculture. Youll also have time to explore the Musk Ox Farms shop for gifts such as qiviut (Musk Ox wool, one of the most sought after fibers in the world)!Before heading out to Hatcher Pass Recreation Area, we will stop to pick up our boxed lunches that are included with the tour. Lunch is provided by a locally owned and operated restaurant, known for their farm to table style ingredients!Once we have lunch, we will make our way over to the Government Peak Chalet, which is nestled into the foothills of Hatcher Pass Recreation Area. Here, guests will be able to take in the beautiful scenery of the Chugach Mountains to the South while we have lunch! After lunch, we will go for a fully guided, interpretive nature walk on one of the Governemnt Peak trails. Weather permitting, snow shoes will be provided! Guests also have the option to get on a fat tire bike, and take a pedal around the trails as well! On return to the Chalet, a campfire with smores and hot chocolate will be provided.
