Each year thousands of visitors and tourists flock to Harlems clubs seeking to experience and hear the soulful music that Harlem has come to be known for. No more waiting for the lights to go down or paying a hefty price to enjoy the soulful, immortal sounds and rhythms of Duke Ellington, Lena Horne, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, to name just a few. Their voices and music live on throughout the city as performers pay tribute to these greats every day. Every Tuesday afternoon and Friday evening, Harlem will play host to some of todays most talented jazz musicians while paying tribute to historys greatest jazz music and YOURE invited! These events are for all the senses, and it is meant to be both mentally and spiritually uplifting.Tuesdays: 1st set: Noon – 12:45 p.m. (15min break); 2nd set: 1:00 p.m. – 1:45p.m. Price: $15Concertgoers will spend the afternoon surrounded by the cool vibrations of jazz as they are soothed and invigorated by seemingly magical strings and horns. Fridays: 1st set: 7:00 p.m. – 7:45 p.m. (15 min break); 2nd set: 8:00 p.m. – 8:45 p.m. Price: $20Friday evening concertgoers will enjoy this music-driven concerts joined by artists across the genres: visual, spoken word, theatre, and dance. These exciting artistic meet-ups make the Harlem Jazz Series on Fridays, a cultural indulgence and unique experience for all the senses. House doors open at 11:30 a.m. every Tuesday and 6:30 p.m. every Friday. There is free parking Friday evenings.The Harlem Jazz Series is artistically directed by Craig Harris, a trombonist, composer, arranger and long-time Harlem resident. Harris has been a major figure in the Harlem jazz scene since 1976.
