Visit: Oconaluftee Indian VillageThe Oconaluftee Indian Village is open April 30 – October 23, daily except Sundays from 9:30 am until 4:00 pm. • Guided Tours: Our guided tours begin every 15 minutes. Your tour guide will greet you and will take you on a tour of our Craft Line. The craft line has many stations such as fingerweaving, baskets, pottery, weaponry and more in which you will be able to observe Cherokee artists creating beautiful works of art. Your tour guide will explain how the crafts are made and the purpose of each craft. Run time is approx. 30 minutes. • The “Living History” Section: After the guided portion, the village pathway leads directly into what we call the “Living History” Section. Here, you will see replicas of Cherokee homes and community structures. You may go in and explore the replicas—you’ll also find re-enactors dressed in traditional clothing of the time period, feel free to ask them questions! Travel at your own pace. • Lectures: Our Living History section also features 2 half-hour lectures that are held in both the Council House replica and the Square Grounds areas. These fascinating lectures teach in depth lessons about Cherokee culture and history and will entertain audiences of all ages. Lectures alternate every half hour. • Dance Shows Time of War Shows: Depending on the day of your visit, you will be able to attend either a traditional dance show or a Time of War re-enactment scene in our squaregrounds.
