Your tour begins with pickup in Waikoloa, Kohala, or Kailua-Kona in a spacious 15-passenger van with a maximum group size of 14 people per tour for a small-group experience.Drive over Saddle Road to the Hilo side of the island to reach an elevation of 6,800 feet (2,073 meters); along the way, your tour guide explains the different climate zones. When descending from the volcanoes into Hilo, you will see beautiful Rainbow Falls. If the conditions are right, you may see a rainbow in the spray of the water.Then continue into downtown Hilo and visit a black-sand beach before enjoying lunch (available for purchase) at a local diner. Next, stop at Big Island Candies for samples of Kona coffee, shortbread cookies, and chocolate-covered macadamia nuts, if you wish.Your last destination is the world famous Hawaii Volcanoes National Park* (UNESCO World Heritage Site), which includes attractions such as steam vents, Chain of Craters Road, and Kilauea Iki overlook. Dinner (available for purchase) will take place inside the national park, and if the Hawaiian volcano goddess permits you can see her crater home where gases are sometime emitted. Then sit back and relax as your guide returns you to your hotel. This tour is perfect for those who would like to see many different places on the Big Island of Hawaii without long strenuous hikes.
