Upon his return home to Mānoa Valley, he discovers his sister is engaged to his first love, and is forced to confront her and his father about an unspeakable past that separated them, and a family history that held them together. Inspired by Afong Moy, the first Chinese woman to immigrate to the United States, June is the First Fall is a moving slice-of-life that artistically weaves together scenes in Hawaii and New York City that span from the 1840s to the present.Playwright Yilong Liu, who was recently listed in ArtsBostons 10 Contemporary Asian and Pacific Islander American Playwrights You Should Know, is originally from Chongquin, China. Currently based in New York, he is a resident playwright in the SERIALS Writers Room at the Flea Theatre, and a Greenhouse resident at SPACE on Ryder Farm. This production contains adult languages and themes.
