This walking tour starts on the North side of the Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon. Youll then proceed to visit several attractions in Charlestons Historic District, including, but not limited to: the picturesque pastel houses on Rainbow Row; Elliott Street; Poinsett Tavern; the Washington-Heyward House; the DuBose Heyward House; Longitude Lane, one of the original “streets” of the Old Walled City; a white building from 1750 that was built by slaves for slaves, and Stolls Alley, which The New York Times, in 1894, called a dirty, narrow little lane in the lower part of the city.
