Raft down a beginner‐friendly river with AOA’s guided raft tours on the Lower Salt River just outside Phoenix and Scottsdale. This class I river (the easiest rating on the international river difficulty scale) provides some of the best opportunities for viewing wildlife and bird watching in the Southwest. We often see wild horses and bald eagles during our tour! Your guides are available to teach you the natural history of the area and give you expert paddling instruction. We select our launch locations based on the current water flow to provide you with the best experience so our start and end points vary throughout the year. Water temperatures may range from approx. 60 degrees F in the winter to low 80 degrees in the summer months. Swimming is possible year‐round but it can be a bit bracing in January! All tours depart from the AOA office in north central Scottsdale and travel 35 minutes to our tour location just outside the eastern metro area. If you are staying in the east valley, please call our office if you would like to meet at an alternate location of greater convenience.Additional InformationConfirmation will be received at time of bookingChildren must be accompanied by an adultAdult pricing applies to all travelers A minimum of 2 people per booking is requiredA minimum weight of 35 lbs is requiredNot wheelchair accessibleInclusionsBottled waterSnacksProfessional guideRaft paddlesPFD (life jacket), dry bagsNational Forest entrance feesRoundtrip Transportation from AOAs officeExclusionsGuide gratuities are optional but appreciated.Departure PointArizona Outback AdventuresDeparture Time8am and 1pm Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from September 15 – May 31. 7am Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from June 1 – September 15.Duration4 hoursVoucher InfoYou can present either a paper or an electronic voucher for this activity. The tour identified in this promotion is made available through Viator.
