Blacksmithing is an age-old art form that very few people get the opportunity to try their hand at. This Private Blacksmithing Experience is your chance to pound out a unique work of art from hot, molten steel. Embrace your creative side as you design and create your very own, custom coat hook or steel bowl!When you arrive at the forge, you will be greeted and treated to some snacks. As you enjoy, your private introduction to metal working will begin with a brief history of the art form. You’ll learn how techniques have evolved over the years and find out what types of techniques you will be using to create your own piece. Lasting approximately 30 minutes, this introduction will include a live demonstration and safety lesson. Next, you will discuss with your expert instructor what you want to make and how you envision your piece to look. For the 2-hour class, you and your fellow participant will be making coat hooks, or you may choose to opt for the 2.5-hour class during which you will learn to make steel bowls! Once you have a plan in mind… it will be time to get to work!Over the course of approximately 2-2.5 hours, your instructor will assist you as you learn the different smithing techniques like forging, drawing, bending, punching and more. It is an exciting process and your expert instructor will be there to help you every step of the way! You’ll even have the opportunity to man a 1.5-ton power hammer (2.5-hour experience only)!Of course, you are welcome to bring along a friend or loved one to share in this unique experience with you! This private studio lesson is perfect for an exciting date idea or simply a fun evening with a friend! Each participant will go home with their very own piece. After your lesson, you are welcome to stick around the forge and enjoy the ambiance as you enjoy a glass of beer or wine (beverages are BYOB).
