Visit: San Antonio ZooAfrica Live – Hippos, crocodiles, and African cichlids from Lake Tanganyika and Lake Malawi are visible through underwater viewing windows that allow guests to see these creatures in the environment where they spend much of their lives.African Plains – At this exhibit, look for ostriches, Grevys zebra, African crowned cranes, Topi, Marabou storks, and sometimes other antelopes. Amazonia – Animals housed in the Amazonia exhibit include large and small cats, such as the jaguar and the ocelot. Cranes Of The World – The exhibit is a lush environment constructed on the Zoos existing waterway that allows guests to be immersed in the cranes habitat – an opportunity that is becoming increasingly rare in the wild.Hixon Bird House – Here you will encounter birds from all parts of the world, from the deserts of the American southwest (roadrunner, burrowing owl), coastal beaches (black-necked stilt, Inca tern), South American rain forest (quetzal, tinamou, sun bittern), the jungles of Asia (lesser green broadbill, fairy bluebird), to the African bush (Taveta golden weaver, Egyptian plover, jacana), and many othersZootennial Carousel – This dazzling carousel features four Texas favorites—the endangered whooping crane, the white-tailed deer, the Texas horned lizard, and even the jackalope.
