This is a unique opportunity to get an honest and in-depth look into a very important yet very painful part of American history. Our guests may check in at the Old Brick Barn on Guignard Street, or you can just look for the green carriage in line on Market Street. We ask that you please check in 30-minutes before your scheduled departure time. When it is time for the tour to begin, you will be picked up by a clean, sturdy, and comfortable carriage with a fixed roof being pulled by one of our beautiful Percheron draft horses. Once everyone is on board, the tour will begin. The Slavery to Freedom Tour is the only carriage tour that follows a specific route. You will travel north from the Historic Charleston City Market through Ansonborough, passing by Laurens Street, St John’s Reformed Episcopal Church, Mother Emanuel AME Church, the old Citadel, Marion Square, and you will pass through some of Charleston’s beautiful antebellum neighborhoods before returning to the Market. The tour will end at the Old Brick Barn, the oldest active stable in the city of Charleston.Due to the fact that this tour will give an honest look at the horrors of slavery, we do not recommend this tour for young children.Additional InformationConfirmation will be received at time of bookingThis tour will give an honest look at the horrors of slavery, and therefore it is not recommended for young childrenPlease dress appropriately for the weather.
