Small-Group Food and Drink Tour with Local Snacks

Your happy hour tour of Baltimore begins at Broadway Square in the waterfront neighborhood of Fells Point. From here, you’ll discover the cultural and ethnic history that has given Baltimore its diverse culinary offerings. We’ll start off with exploring the city’s immigrant roots. Poles and Russians began immigrating to the area in the late 1800s, attracted to jobs in the shipping industry and they brought with them some fantastic food and hand-crafted goods. We’ll visit a small shop packed with history and get a chance to meet the owner. Next, we head to the Broadway Market, the oldest market building in Baltimore. Historically, this market was built to serve the working-class residents who worked in the shipping industry. Today, it offers a variety of food and drink options that both locals and visitors flock to. Here, you’ll taste another Eastern European import, the pierogi, while your guide tells you the tales of some of the market’s more colorful characters. From the Broadway Market, we’ll make our way towards a sweeter stop at a local cafe. If you like, your guide can also recommend a beverage for you to purchase and take with you as you continue your journey. Still thirsty? Enjoy a beer as we take in the sunset on the deck, or inside the gorgeous bar of a nearby hotel. Once you finish your brew, we’ll head to your tour’s final destination: a historic saloon. Here we will taste one of Baltimore’s lesser-known (but popular with locals) snacks and you’ll have an opportunity to buy a beer at the very same location of Poe’s final drink. If you’re still hungry when your tour is over (unlikely!), your guide will be happy to give you his or her recommendations for dinner or drinks in the area.Additional InformationConfirmation will be received at time of bookingPlease wear casual clothes appropriate for the weather, and comfortable walking shoes.Small group experience with of a maximum of 12 people. This is a child-friendly tour.
